Cyclones and Rams Split Key Series

Cyclones and Rams Split Key Series

Rochester, Mn:

Anoka Ramsey Community College and St. Cloud Technical and Community College squared off on Tuesday, April 11th in a key Southern Division doubleheader.  When the dust settled, each team took a win and a loss back to the locker room and both squads find themselves atop the Division with identical 5-1 Conference records.

Anoka rode the strong pitching performance of Quincy Gross to take the opening game, 4-1.  Gross struck out 13, walked three batters and scattered five hits over seven innings of work.  She had a shutout going into the top of the final inning, before St. Cloud was able to score their first- and only- run.  Offensively, the Golden Rams were led by Ashton Prachar, who scored two runs on a hit and a walk, and by JoJo Liebelt, who tallied 2 RBI's.

Game two was a far different story for St. Cloud, as they cruised to a 12-2 win.  The Cyclone bats came alive, much to the detriment of Anoka pitcher Lindsey Swanson, who absorbed the loss in the nightcap.  St. Cloud batters Chloe Callahan, Brianna Kinghorn and Ashley Pool all dinged home runs for the Cyclones, with Callahan leading all batters with 4 RBI's.  Anoka infielder Shannon Olson went yard as well for the Rams, but it was the only offense the Rams could muster against Tech pitcher, Shania Kinghorn.

With the split, both squads have 5-1 MCAC South records; Anoka moves to 15-11 overall while St. Cloud sits at 22-7 on the season.
