Softball Northern All-Division Standouts Selected

Despite some weather-related challenges at start of the 2019 Minnesota College Athletic Conference fastpitch softball season, teams persevered through the spring to compete for the right to advance to the 2019 NJCAA Region XIIIA and XIIIB tournaments held May 16-18.   Several standouts from both Divisions will travel to St. Cloud Technical & Community College and Central Lakes College, respectively, in pursuit of playoff hardware.

The top performers from the MCAC 2019 softball season have been recognized by earning All-Division status for their efforts and accomplishments on the diamond over the past several weeks.

The 2019 Minnesota College Athletic Conference Softball NORTHERN ALL-DIVISION selections - as voted on by Divisional head coaches - are as follows: 

2019 MCAC Northern Division

First Team

 

Janet Humbert

International Falls, MN

Rainy River Community College

Janet Humbert, a freshman at Rainy River Community College, was a .500 hitter in 120 plate appearances this season. She cracked four triples and four home runs for the Voyageurs in 2019. 

 

 

Talyn McClaflin

Big Lake, MN

Itasca Community College

Talyn McClaflin, a sophomore from Big Lake, Minnesota at Itasca Community College hit .579 in the regular season with 55 RBI's and ten home runs. McClaflin tied with Anoka-Ramsey's Bailey Zenk for the MCAC batting average title in 2019. 

 

Lindsay Hendrickson

Menahga, MN

Central Lakes College

Lindsay Hendrickson, a sophomore at Central Lakes College, produced an amazing 70 RBI for the Raiders.  She hit 11 home runs, stole a pair of bases and scored 39 runs herself. 

Lisa Kossan

Motley, MN

Central Lakes College

Lisa Kossan, a sophomore at Central Lakes College, hit for a .570 average in 2019, good for 2nd-best in the MCAC. She also collected four triples and had 41 RBI on the season for CLC.

 

Mackie Dostal

Big Lake, MN

Itasca Community College

Mackie Dostal, a utility player at Itasca Community College drove in 51 RBI's while hitting for a .446 average; her 51 runs batted in were 4th-best in the Conference. She cracked seven home runs, hit 13 doubles and stole two bases. 

 

Haley Price

Newfolden, MN

Northland Community &

Technical College

Haley Price, a sophomore at Northland Community & Technical College hit eight home runs and collected a .414 season average for the Pioneers. She stole nine bases and drove in 39 runs, while also scoring 32 times herself. 

Kalee Wall

Seymour, IN

Northland Community &

Technical College

Kalee Wall was the ace of the Northland Community & Technical College pitching staff in 2019, throwing 195 innings for the Pioneers. She notched a 3.81 ERA and rang up 129 strikeouts, winning 17 games along the way.  Her 129 K's were second-best in the MCAC this year.

Jessie Nichols

Eastsound, WA

Northland Community &

Technical College

 

 

Jessie Nichols produced a solid freshman season for Northland in 2019, hitting at a .391 clip, knocking six home runs and driving in 36 RBI. Nichols also stole five bases and registered a .600 slugging percentage. 

Justina Hawley

Fernley, NV

Rainy River Community College

Justina Hawley, a pitcher at Rainy River Community College rang up 62 strike-outs in 87 innings pitched.  Hawley earned seven wins in 23 appearances for RRCC in 2019. 

Brianna Meyer

Pierz, MN

Central Lakes College

Brianna Meyer, a freshman catcher at Central Lakes College, led the Division in baserunners caught stealing, nabbing nine in 2019. She also hit an impressive .514, with 38 RBI and 42 runs scored. 

 

 

2019 MCAC Northern Division

Second Team

Taylor Shepard

Northland-Remer, MN

Itasca Community College

As a pitcher, Shepard went 9-7 on the year for the Vikings. She tossed ten complete games, notching 71 strikeouts, good for 5.22 K's per Itasca contest.

Hailey Aho

Virginia, MN

Mesabi Range College

Hailey Aho, a freshman shortstop at Mesabi Range College, was a force on the basepaths for the Norse, swiping ten stolen bases in 2019. Aho hit .372, drove in 23 runs and scored 31 times for MRC. 

 

 

Morgan Schlotec

Eveleth-Gilbert, MN 

Mesabi Range College

Morgan Schlotec hit .415 for the Norse in 2019, driving in 27 RBI's and stealing three bases.  She also scored 12 runs herself in 30 games for Mesabi Range CollegeSchlotec had an on-base percentage of .474 on the year. 

Cassidy Zontelli

Brainerd, MN

Central Lakes College

Cassidy Zontelli had 41 hits in 104 at-bats for Central Lakes College, including five doubles. She scored 37 runs in 34 games played for the Raiders in 2019. 

 

Mackenzi Riedel

Browerville, MN

Itasca Community College

Mackenzi Riedel scored 40 runs in 2019 for Itasca Community College; she also had 38 RBI and hit two home runs. Thirteen of Riedel 's 64 hits were doubles for the Vikings.

Mariah Stueness

Gary, MN

Northland Community & 

Technical College

 

Mariah Stueness drove in 20 RBI's and scored 24 runs herself for the Northland Pioneers in 2019.  Stueness stole three bases, hit a home run and collected 36 total bases on the season. 

 

Emily LeMasurier

Red Deer, AB Canada

Rainy River Community College

Emily LeMasurier, hit .413 for Rainy River Community College in 2019, driving in 26 Voyager runs. She stole three bases and scored 24 times in 37 games played at RRCC this season. 

Shawna Butler

Vermilion Community College

Shawna Butler, a freshman catcher at Vermilion Community College cracked three home runs and stole six bases for the VCC squad in 2019. Butler notched a .660 slugging percentage and collected 31 total bases.

Emily Anderson

Chisholm, MN

Hibbing Community College

Emily Anderson led Hibbing Community College in most offensive stats this year, while also being a solid defensive player. Anderson contributed in the middle infield and at catcher for the Cardinals. A two-sport standout, Anderson also competed in volleyball for Hibbing.

 

 

Marissa Kerry

International Falls, MN

Rainy River Community College

Marissa Kerry scored 40 runs for Rainy River Community College and drove in 24 RBI in 37 total games. Kerry also swiped six bases while hitting for a .456 batting average.
