As women's basketball teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference wind down 2017 and head into the holiday break, some notable performances have led to both individual Player-of-the-Week honors and pair of MCAC teams recognized for a strong first half to the season.
Rochester Community & Technical College and Northland Community & Technical College are both featured in the NJCAA Top 10 rankings for the week ending on December 17. Northland CTC remains #4 in the nation, posting a 8-2 overall record and a 2-0 mark for the week. The Pioneers defeated Minnesota West CTC 79-59 on Saturday, December 9 and dispatched M State in Fergus Falls 82-62 for a road win.
Rochester CTC is at #7, sliding one from the sixth spot last week. The Yellowjackets are 9-2 overall and split their most recent two games, defeating Vermilion 87-60 and falling to Bismarck State 75-62. Both games were held at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. This week's poll in the NJCAA is the final list of 2017, the committee will take a break until after the New Year with January 9 slated for the next ranking.
Northern Division Player-of-the-Week honors goes to Tanisha Beetso, a sophomore guard at Central Lakes College who led her Raiders squad to the CLC Winter Invitational with a pair of home wins. The Southern Division Player-of-the-Week is Nautika Kotero of RCTC.

In a pair of Raider wins last week, Tanisha Beetso was both an offensive force and floor general for coach Randy Swanhorst and the 7-3 Central Lakes team. The sophomore from Farmington, New Mexico shot 15-of-37 from the field over both games, logging a total of 67 minutes. She was 4-of-5 from the charity stripe, hauled in 16 rebounds and hit 4-of-10 three pointers. In addition, Beetso chipped in a pair of steals, had five assists and only committed three turnovers total for the weekend. For her balanced performance, Beetso is the MCAC Northern Division Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week. Central Lakes will face Minnesota West and Ridgewater College on January 5-6, 2018. |

Rochester Community & Technical College sits among the Top 10 NJCAA Division III programs in the country to close out 2017 and the play of sophomore guard Nautika Kotero had been a big factor in that success. The Yellowjacket guard from Wabasha-Kellogg High School had 14 points and seven assists for RCTC against fellow MCAC program Vermilion Community College on Friday, December 15. She also collected five rebounds in the contest. On Saturday, Kotero tallied 18 points against NJCAA foe Bismarck State and dished out another five assists in the game against the Mystics. The combined solid effort has landed Kotero the MCAC Southern Division Player-of-the-Week. Kotero and Rochester CTC are off until January 5-6, when they will travel back to Anoka-Ramsey Community College to face North Dakota State College of Science and Hibbing Community College. |
