The 2017-18 women's basketball season in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference is marching towards the last week of regular season competition and two student-athletes stood out in their efforts to help their teams secure solid footing in the post-season. 

Rochester Community & Technical College  standout Grace Riley and Hibbing Community College center April Hudelson have claimed Player-of-the-Week awards for the week ending February 18 in the MCAC.

April Hudelson, a sophomore center from Hibbing Community College was a force on the boards and on the scoresheet for the Cardinals this past week, and has earned her second Player-of-the-Week award for the 2017-18 season. 

Hudelson hauled in 15 rebounds, blocked a pair of shots and dished out an assist in a balanced performance against Mesabi Range College.  She also chipped in 14 points in 34 minutes of action against MRC. 

On Saturday, Hudelson had 33 points against Vermilion Community College and grabbed 14 rebounds against the Ironwomen.  The Hibbing High School product was perfect from the foul line at 5-of-5 and blocked four shots in the contest. 

The final week of regular season play will see Hibbing take on Rainy River Community College and Central Lakes College in pair of pivotal contests to shape up the Northern Division standings and the NJCAA Region XIIIB post-season.

    Rochester Community & Technical College

Grace Riley, a freshman guard at Rochester Community and Technical College put together a strong week for the Yellowjackets, including a 27 point performance off the bench to keep RCTC in the hunt for a top seed in the MCAC South. 

Riley had 19 points, eight rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals against Riverland Community College on Wednesday, February 14. In 23 minutes against RCC, Riley was 7-of-14 from the field and an impressive 5-of-7 from three point land.   

On Saturday, February 17, Riley hit for a game-high 27 points off the bench, on the strength of an 11-of-18 performance and 15 points worth of shooting from behind the arc. The Mayo High School product also swiped four steals and collected four rebounds for RCTC. 

The Yellowjackets close out the regular season this week with key games against Anoka-Ramsey Community College and Minnesota West CTC; both contests will factor strongly in the final standings for the Division and placement within the NJCAA Region XIIIA tournament.
