MCAC Women's Hoops Concludes; NJCAA Region XIII A & B Tournaments Set

Snowy weather and tough road conditions delayed the conclusion of the 2017-18 women's basketball season in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, as Rochester CTC and Minnesota West CTC had to postpone their first-place showdown by 24 hours.  Once the dust settled, Minnesota West emerged 72-68 victors over the Yellowjackets and claim both the 2017-18 Southern Division regular season championship hardware and the right to host the 2018 Region XIIIA women's basketball tournament.

Worthington, Minnesota will be the site for the 2018 NJCAA Region XIIIA competition; top seed Minnesota West CTC will serve as host and open up the competition with a semi-final matchup against #4 seed Ridgewater College.  Second-place RCTC will face #3 Anoka-Ramsey in the other semi-final contest.  The semi-final rounds are set for Saturday, March 3  with  the championship game to be held Sunday, March 4.

The NJCAA Region XIIIB women's basketball tournament will head to Thief River Falls, Minnesota and the campus of Northland Community & Technical College for the semi-final rounds on Saturday, March 3 and the championship game to be held Sunday, March 4.  The Pioneers finished in a two-way tie with Rainy River Community College in the regular season standings, each with a 10-2 final mark.  Northland won the coin toss and elected to host the four team competition.

The Region XIIIB championship tournament will feature #1 seed Northland, #2 Rainy River, #3 Hibbing and #4 Central Lakes College.  Semifinal round match-ups for Region XIIIB play will see #1 Northland taking on #4 Central Lakes College, while #2 Rainy River will face #3 Hibbing Community College.
