MCAC Women's Basketball Players-of-the-Week

Despite a change in schedule for most teams due to Mother Nature, several women's basketball teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference put together strong performances over the past several days.  Two student-athletes stood above the rest in their efforts and have earned Player-of-the-Week in their respective Division for the week ending February 3. 

MCAC Northern Division

  Bethany Baldwin

Bethany Baldwin a freshman guard at Hibbing Community College has claimed MCAC Northern Division Player-of-the-Week honors for the second consectuvie week. 

Baldwin, from Watersmeet, Michigan, scored 62 points total in wins over Lake Superior College  (93-55) and Rainy River (101-75). Her 70% shooting touch came on the strength of a 23-of-33 shooting performance.  She was also a perfect 11-of-11 from the foul line for week.  In addition, she averaged 8.0 rebounds a game, dished out six total assists and had three steals. 

HCC will face Central Lakes College and Northland CTC in a pair of key Northern Division match-ups this week.

 

 

 

 

 

                                  

 

                                     

MCAC Southern Division

Caitlin Young

Caitlin Young sparked a pair of Western Technical College Cavalier wins this past week, coming off the bench to contribute in a big way for her team. 

Young scored 26 points against Ridgewater College and tallied 37 overall in two contests. She brought in nine rebounds and had three steals for the week. Young and WTC moved to 7-0 in the MCAC Southern Division. 

Western Tech will face Rochester next Saturday in their only game this week; tip-off is set for 1pm at RCTC.
