MCAC Women's Basketball Players-of-the-Week

The final stretch run for the regular season in women's basketball around the Minnesota College Athletic Conference yielded some strong individual performances as teams battle for post-season position.  The best of those efforts have earned Player-of-the-Week status in women's hoops for the week ending Sunday, February 17.

MCAC Northern Division

Meredith Cherne

Freshman / Forward

 Kelsey, MN

 

 

Meredith Cherne, a forward at Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College, has earned Northern Division Player-of-the-Week for the week ending Febuary 17.

The freshman from Kelsey, Minnesota performed admirably against Hibbing Community College - currently ranked #7 in NJCAA Division III - as Cherne scored 29 points and hauled in an impressive 22 rebounds against the Cardinals.  Cherne was 11-of-25 from the field against Hibbing and seven of her 22 rebounds were on the offensive end of the floor.

For the week, Cherne grabbed 32 rebounds between a pair of MCAC contests involving the Thunder.  FDLTCC will close out the 2018-19 campaign with games against Central Lakes and Mesabi Range College.

Taylor Rose

Fr. / Guard

Sleepy Eye, MN

Taylor Rose, a freshman guard at Ridgewater College logged 72 minutes of solid effort for the Warriors in a 1-1 week.

From the field, Rose was 13-of-26 shooting, including a 3-of-9 effort from three-point territory.  At the foul line, she was 12-of-14 for a total point contribution of 41 for the week.  Additionally, she grabbed 12 boards, dished out two assists and had three steals.

Ridgewater will close out the 2018-19 regular season with contests against Minnesota West CTC and Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
