Western Technical College finishes year at NJCAA Division III National Championships; 21-7 overall / 12-0 MCAC South

Western Technical College fell to No. 1 Hostos Community College 68-47 as the Cavaliers were unable to overcome a slow start in a bid to advance to the 2019 NJCAA Division III National Championship game.   

Western Tech found themselves down at the break by a 36-15 scoreline, and despite an improved second half, were unable to close the gap completely.  Hostos cleaned up on the boards, earning a 66-39 rebounding margin on the day.  Head coach Chad Dull saw Kerrigan Lyga lead his team with 18 points while Caitlin Young chipped in 12 as well. Krysten Lawver led the Cavaliers with nine rebounds and Lexi Schmidtknecht tallied four assists in the game. 

The Cavaliers will compete in the in the third-place game on Saturday at 5pm.  Hibbing Community College will also be in action tomorrow as they take on Passiac County at 2pm. in the fifth-place match-up.
