Three student-athletes from the women's basketball ranks of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference have been tabbed as All-America selections following the 2018-19 season.
Anoka-Ramsey Community College guard Mikayla Homola, Rainy River Community College forward Daeja Monroe and Northland CTC post Brooke Heggie all are featured on the most recent NJCAA Division III All-America list as named by the NJCAA women's basketball committee.
Homola led the Golden Rams and the MCAC in points-per-game at 27.1; her per-contest output was third overall in NJCAA Division III women's hoops. The sophomore from Blaine, Minnesota was second in the country in total points scored at 758 for the year; she also was a statistical leader defensively, finishing tied for 7th overall in steals-per-game with 4.1 a contest. Overall, Homola was key in the ARCC season mark of 22-6 and a MCAC Southern Division 10-2 record. ARCC advanced to the Region XIIIA post-season as the No. 2 seed where they earned a runner-up finish, losing to Western Technical College, 68-62 in the region championship game.
Monroe (Houston, TX) was a scoring machine for Rainy River, averaging 25.2 points a game in her sophomore campaign. Monroe shot over 50% from the field, connecting on 256-of-508 attempts for the Voyageurs. She also registered a assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.5 on the season, dishing out 65 helpers to teammates over the course of the year. On the boards, Monroe grabbed 7.4 rebounds per contest. Rainy River concluded their season in the Region XIIIB post-season, falling to Hibbing Community College 79-68 in the semi-finals.
Heggie was force on boards and in the paint for the Pioneers as she lead the league in rebounds per game at 11.1 a contest. The sophomore from Alexandria, Minnesota had 311 total boards on the year, good for tops in the Conference. She also had 76 blocked shots to lead the MCAC in that category and finish 10th overall in blocks in NJCAA Division III women's basketball. Heggie led the Pioneers to a two-way tie for first place in the MCAC Northern Division with rival Hibbing Community College during the 2018-19 regular season. The Cardinals ended the Northland campaign in the Region XIIIB championship game, 67-62 in a contest played at Hibbing.
