RCTC Wrestling Opens 2017-18 Season

Rochester, MN - Led by a trio of runner-up finishes the Rochester CTC wrestling team got its season underway in impressive fashion at the Yellowjacket Open.  In a field featuring some of the top wrestling programs in the Midwest including both NJCAA and NCAA programs, the Yellowjackets fared extremely well.

Alfred Daniel, Mason Hawkins, and Luis Pinto all turned in runner-up performances, while Auston HallEnkhbold Sukhbaatar, and Alex LaPierre each finished in 3rd place of their respective weight classes in the meet to open the season.  Daniel's championship bout ended in a heartbreaking 3-2 decision to NCAA Division II wrestler Tucker Black from Upper Iowa University.  Hawkins and Pinto also fell to wrestlers from Upper Iowa, Hawkins by a 6-3 score in his bout, while Pinto dropped his match by Fall.

Auston Hall rebounded from his semi-final defeat winning the third place match by a 4-1 score.  Sukhbaatar defeated a wrestler from UW-EauClaire in convincing fashion in his third place match, winning by fall...LaPierre closed out his day by winning his third place match as well. LaPierre's only loss of the day came in the semi-finals to teammate Alfred Daniel, who went on to finish second.

The Yellowjackets are back in action wrestling at the Luther Open, this Saturday (November, 11th) in Decorah, IA.
