Three Wrestling Teams Earn Honors Heading into Nationals

Rochester, Mn- 

Three wrestling teams from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference have earned recognition in the final NJCAA Wrestling poll released ahead of the 2018 NJCAA National Wrestling Championships. 

Rochester Community & Technical College is ranked 10th in the country and is the top non-scholarship team within the NJCAA.  Head coach Randy Rager's squad will be sending nine athletes to Council Bluffs to compete this weekend. Yellowjacket athletes Noah Bauer (125), Parker Huss (133), Austin Hall (141), Alfred Daniel (157), Elijah Hollins (165), Shane Siewart (174), Zach Moon (184), Mason Hawkins (197) and Luis Pinto (285) all will compete at the 2018 National tournament.

Itasca Community College clocked in at #16 in this week's poll; the Viking program narrowly missed out on a runner-up finish at the MCAC/North District Tournament on February 17.  ICC took third place in MCAC standings but will send four athletes to the NJCAA Championships; Tanner Reetz (133), Sam Naddy (149), Ethan K Kiehm (157) and Cory Schmidt (197). 

The final MCAC program mentioned in the poll, Ridgewater College, will have five representatives on the mats in Iowa.  Lucas Hagel (125), Mark Voss (149), Augustus Siaway (165), Jareth Hoernemann (197) and Nathan Hellman (285) will be seeking strong performances for the Warriors. Ridgewater is in the 'Receiving Votes' category of the current NJCAA rankings.

In addition to the three nationally ranked programs on display in Council Bluffs, Minnesota West CTC and MCAC tournament runner-up Northland CTC will also have athletes taking part in the NJCAA Championships. 

Pioneer wrestlers iRashidi Kikopa (141), Kyle Fowler (149), Richard Dralu (165), Hunter Roller (184) and Desmond Bradford (285) will compete for NCTC.  MnWest will send Blue Jays Hser Eh Pwae (125) and Wallace Michels (157) to Council Bluffs in pursuit of All-America honors.
