Pioneer Earns Athlete-of-the-Week

Rochester, MN- 

Northland Technical & Community College wrestler Payton Jackson has been named the Athlete-of-the-Week among the wrestling programs in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference for the week ending Sunday, January 13. 

Jackson wrestled his way to an impressive runner-up finish at the Ridgewater Open on Saturday, January 12.  The freshman from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota second place finish scored nine team points for the Pioneers in the mid-season event. Jackson won by fall over Tristan Eastman of MCAC foe Ridgewater College by fall at the 3:30 mark and lost by fall to Taylor Jeffries of NCAA Division II Augustana (SD) fall  at the 2:59 in the 133-pound championship match.

Across the MCAC, Rochester Community & Technical College is currently No. 18 in the NCJAA poll, while Jackson's NCTC squad and Itasca Community College are both in the 'Receiving Votes' category.
