Pioneer Captures Wrestling Honors

Andre Baguma, a freshman at Northland Community & Technical College has earned Wrestler-of-the-Week for his efforts as a Pioneer for the week ending Sunday, January 27. 

Baguma finished third at the Harper Open in Palatine, Ill., Saturday, Jan. 26, and also secured the winning fall in Northland's 24-20 dual meet win over MCAC foe Itasca Community College Wednesday, January 23 in Thief River Falls.

For the week, the Fargo, North Dakota product went 4-1 overall in both competitions.  In the Northland-Itasca dual meet, Baguma won by fall over Devin Reynolds of Itasca at the 285 pound weight division. He picked up wins over student-athletes from Harper College and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, while falling in the Harper semi-finals to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. 

In the current NJCAA Wrestling poll, Rochester Community & Technical College is ranked #18, while Northland and Itasca are both in the 'Receiving Votes' category.
