Wrestling teams from across the Minnesota College Athletic Conference  head to Worthington, Minnesota for the NJCAA Region XIII North District Wrestling Tournament held on Sunday, February 10. 

Rochester Community & Technical College, Ridgewater College, Itasca Community College and Northland Community & Technical College will join host Minnesota West CTC in competition at several weight classes.  The top individual performances in each division shall earn the opportunity to advance to the2019 NJCAA Wrestling National Championships held March 1-2 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

In the February 5 NJCAA Wrestling Rankings, the RCTC Yellowjackets sit in the No. 8 spot tied with Harper (IL) College and North Idaho Community College as the MCAC representative in the poll. RCTC is the highest rated NJCAA Division III program in the country; in the sports of football and wrestling, all NJCAA levels (I, II and III) are rated in the same polls. 

Individually, RCTC student-athletes also lead the way for MCAC programs, with Yellowjacket Shane Siewert sitting atop the 174 lb. division and Alex LaPierre representing Rochester in the 184 lb. category, where is is ranked No. 5.   The complete NJCAA individual rankings as compiled by The Guillotine wrestling website are available by clicking here or at: https://theguillotine.com/2018/02/njcaa-rankings-8/

Minnesota West, the host college for this year's 2019 NJCAA Region XIII district tournament, is coming off a successful non-conference outing at the Dave Edmonds Open at Morningside College.  Blue Jays Braydon Johnson and Adam Rients captured three wins and two wins respectively, in their final tune-up for the District tournament.  Read more about MnWest Wrestling at this link.
