Yellowjacket Wrestler Claims First Honors of the Season

A handful of wrestling programs in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference opened up their seasons this past week and of the top performers has been tabbed Athlete-of-the-Week in the MCAC Wrestling ranks.

Rochester Community & Technical College 

Rochester Community and Technical College  saw Alex Lloyd get his 2019-20 campaign off to great start as he goes 5-0 and claims 1st place in the 157 lbs. category at the Yellowjacket Open last weekend.

Lloyd - a freshman from Shakopee, Minnesota - comes to RCTC after a stellar career at Shakopee High School, where he was a five-time state medalist, and three-time MN class AAA champion.

The Performance: 

Champ. Round 1 - Alex Lloyd (Rochester-CTC) won by major decision over Nolan Miller-Johnston (Iowa Central Community College) (Maj 16-6)

Champ. Round 2 - Alex Lloyd (Rochester-CTC) won by fall over Adam Rients (UW-Eau Claire) (Fall 2:39)

Quarterfinal - Alex Lloyd (Rochester-CTC) won by decision over Ryan Steffen (Upper Iowa University) (Dec 6-4)

Semifinal - Alex Lloyd (Rochester-CTC) won by injury default over Blake Pomajzl (Northwestern) (Inj. 1:26)

1st Place Match - Alex Lloyd (Rochester-CTC) won by fall over Tyler Zeman (Triton Community College) (Fall 5:27)
