MCAC Soccer Player of the Week

MCAC Soccer Player of the Week

Rochester, Mn-

The Lake Superior College women's soccer team ran into a bit of a buzzsaw on Sunday, September 3, when they hosted NJCAA Division II program North Iowa Area Community College in Duluth.  And no LSC player had more interaction with NIACC than Lake Superior goalkeeper, Alexa Gothard, who faced 18 shots on goal from the visitors.

Gothard made 15 saves for Lake Superior, 10 in the first half and five in the second, performing admirably in the goal.  Lake Superior also surrendered over ten corner kicks on the day, pressing Gothard into service on several occasions.  For her work in the net in a tough 3-0 loss for Lake Superior College, Alexa Gothard has earned the MCAC Soccer Player-of-the-Week honors.

As a prep athlete, Gothard was named the Mesabi Daily News, Hibbing Daily Tribune and Grand Rapids Herald Review Girls Soccer player of the Year.

Lake Superior is back in action this weekend, with trips to Rochester and Iowa for a pair of NJCAA matches.
