MCAC Volleyball Week 4 Players-of-the-Week: Southern Division

Rochester, Mn- 

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has named the Week 4, MCAC Volleyball Players-of-the-Week in the Southern Division.  Weekend tournament and MCAC mid-week action gave fans much to follow over the past seven days, as St. Cloud Technical & Community College pulled ahead of the pack to sit alone in first place at 4-0 in the Division and 11-3 overall.  

MCAC South Hitter-of-the-Week: 

Brooke Wendland, of Rochester Community & Technical College, turned in a strong performance against several different opponents in a busy week-long stretch for the Yellowjackets.    The sophomore middle hitter helped lead her team to a 5-1 record over the past week of action which included a MCAC win over Western Technical College and a 3-1 mark in their own Toppers Pizza Invitational. Wendland current sits atop the MCAC in kills, with 178. RCTC and Ridgewater will face off on Friday, September 22nd at 6:30pm in Wilmar. 

 

MCAC South Setter-of-the-Week: 

The St. Cloud Technical & Community College Cyclones put together an impressive week on the volleyball court, going 3-1 and notching a win over third ranked Ridgewater College.  Kalli Mathiasen was key in the strong performance for SCTCC, and has earned Setter-of-the-Week honors in the Southern Division for her efforts. Currently, Mathiasen is ranked first in the MCAC in assists per set (8.90) and is first in total assists (454) as well.   The Cyclones face M State on Wednesday, September 20th. 

 

MCAC South Defensive Player-of-the-Week: 

Jamie Gorblirsh, of Ridgewater College, has earned the MCAC South Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. Gorblirsch is tops in the MCAC in both Digs Per Set (5.36) and overall Digs (268).  The Warriors rebounded from a 3-1 loss to St. Cloud Technical & Community College to go 3-1 in their weekend tournament, including wins over NJCAA foes College of Dupage and Iowa Lakes Community College.  The MCAC Southern Division slate holds Minnesota West CTC, Rochester CTC and Western Technical College in the coming days for Ridgewater. 

 

MCAC South All-Around Player-of-the-Week

The MCAC Volleyball Week 4 All Around Player-of-the-Week has been awarded to Lindsey Dierks of M State.  The Chokio, Minnesota sophomore earns the nod for the honor in helping her Spartan squad move above .500 and stay within striking distance of Division-leading SCTCC and Ridgewater College.  The Spartans are set to play the Cyclones on Wednesday, September 20th and Western Technical College on Friday, September 22nd as they look to make up ground in the Southern Division race.
