 Mikala Kowarsch

Mikala Kowarsch of Mesabi Range College collected 50 set assists on her way to being named MCAC Volleyball Setter-of-the-Week for the week ending September 30.

In addition to setting up her teammates, Kowarsch had 16 digs and 3 aces on the week.  Mesabi Range defeated Rainy River Community College 3-0, while falling to No. 1 Central Lakes College by a 3-1 scoreline and lost at Northland CTC, 3-0. 

The Norse will continue MCAC Northern Division play with matches at Vermilion on October 2 and home against the NCTC Pioneers on Saturday, October 6. 

Hitter-of-the-Week

Hayfield, MN

Carrie Rutledge, an outside hitter at Rochester Community & Technical College put together a strong week for the Yellowjackets on the way to being named 'Hitter-of-the-Week' in MCAC Volleyball. 

Rutledge, from Hayfield, Minnesota, had 54 total kills on the week, including a 25-kill performance against NJCAA Division II NIACC.  She also collected 27 digs along the way, helping her team to a 3-0 win over Bethel's JV team, a 3-0 MCAC Southern Division win over SCTCC and a 3-1 triumph over NIACC. 

Rochester will travel to the DMACC Invitational tournament on Friday, October 5 and Saturday October 6 in their next set of matches. 

 Defensive Player-of-the-Week

Jessica Lemke

Browntown, MN

Jessica Lemke has been named the Defensive Player-of-the-Week in MCAC Volleyball for the week ending September 30. 

Ridgewater went 2-1 over the past week, collecting a Southern Division 3-0 win over Minnesota West, and going 1-1 at Central Lakes, defeating Vermilion 3-0 and dropping their 2nd match to No. 1 CLC, 3-1.  

Lemke collected 54 digs over the three contests, as well as six aces for the Warriors over that time period. 

Ridgewater and Lemke will play next on Wednesday, October 3 when they travel to Fergus Falls for a 6:30pm match at M State. 

     All-Around Player-of-the-Week

Brenna Dallager

Strathcona, MN

Brenna Dallager of Northland Community & Technical College has been named the MCAC Volleyball All-Around Player-of-the-Week for the week ending September 30. 

Dallager was a key part of the successful week for the Pioneers, as they rattled off three straight MCAC wins and earned a spot in the 'Receiving Votes' category of the NJCAA Top Ten poll.

The sophomore from Stathcona, Minnesota had 16 kills, and 34 assists to the NCTC attack.  She added 16 digs and hit for .325 overall in the three-win week for the Pioneers.  Northland rose to 14-2 overall and 6-1 in the Northern Division by posting identical 3-0 wins over Itasca, Vermilion and Mesabi Range College.              

Northland will face No. 1 ranked Central Lakes College on Wednesday in an important MCAC Northern Division match-up.  Start time is set for 6:30pm.
