Ranked No. 3 nationally and sitting at a perfect 12-0 in the MCAC Southern Division, the Rochester Community & Technical College volleyball team had to accomplish one last task to earn the right to play in the 2018 NJCAA Division III National Championship tournament hosted by RCTC; they had to beat M State-Fergus Falls for the third time in 2018. 

Fortunately for head coach Amber Zitzow, the Yellowjackets were equal to the task, finding the resolve needed to defeat the the No. 6 ranked Spartans, 3-1, on their home court on Saturday, November 3, to claim the NJCAA Region XIIIA title. 

M State-Fergus Falls head coach Abby Crowser helped her team navigate a crowded and competitive field throughout the 2018 regular and post-season, culminating in a 3-0 semi-final win over Ridgewater College on Friday.  The Spartans were not able to find Saturday magic to pull off the upset, and conclude their season with a 20-7 regular season record, and a 8-4 MCAC Southern Division mark. 

Rochester CTC advances to the 2018 NJCAA Division III Volleyball National Championships, hosted by RochesterMN Sports and RCTC.  New this year, the 2018 NJCAA tournament will feature an expanded 12-team field.  Two MCAC programs, RCTC and the Region XIIIB winner of either Central Lakes or Mesabi Range, will be among the teams seeking a national title.
