MCAC adds Sports Management Intern to Staff

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has announced that Hailey Nisbit has joined the Conference office on a Sports Management internship from Saint Mary's (Mn) University.

"I'm looking forward to working with an athletic conference and gaining the experience of what goes on for all of the planning for events while also working on social media projects," says Nisbit.

Nisbit is joining the Conference office as a Sport Management and Marketing double major. As a current student-athlete, Nisbit is playing volleyball for Saint Mary's. She has been playing volleyball for the past 10 years.

Saint Mary's faculty member and Nisbits' advisor, Dr. Shelly McCallum-Ferguson says, "The MCAC has added a valuable asset to their team with their new member Hailey Nisbit. She is an outstanding Sports Management and Marketing student who has the skills and know-how to bring new and innovative ideas to the life for the MCAC and its member schools."

"For being an athlete for so long, it's the only thing I know how to do pretty well. I knew going into college that I would want to pursue a major and a future career in something that would involve being around athletics because I can't play volleyball for forever. Being a Sports Management major allows me to do just that."

Assistant volleyball coach, Alexa Krogstad says, "Hailey will do great things for the MCAC, she has a passion for sports. She has worked hard on and off the court as a student-athlete for our team and will thrive in this new adventure."

Nisbit will focus on a handful of projects for the Minnesota College Athletic Conference, including the development of an Instragram page dedicated to stories in the MCAC and the promotion of selected MCAC events.  According to executive director, Peter Watkins, Nisbit "brings a strong background in Sport Management and has several great ideas to help us keep moving the MCAC forward.  We hope she is the first of many students from around the state and region who are able to learn from and contribute to the MCAC."
