Pioneers Prepare for Bowl, Volleyball Teams Honored

Rochester, MN-

While fans, families and followers of the Minnesota College Athletic Conference have turned to the basketball courts and wrestling mats to watch MCAC programs perform in recent weeks, a couple fall sports items remain on the radar as the NJCAA football and volleyball seasons wrapped up prior to Thanksgiving.

Two volleyball programs - one each from the MCAC Southern and Northern Divisions- were recently picked to receive the MCAC Volleyball Sportsmanship Award by Conference coaches.

In the North, Hibbing Community College was tabbed as the 2018 Sportsmanship team award recepient, while St. Cloud Technical & Community College was the Southern squad to receive the honor.  In addition to their noted class and composure on the court, HCC and SCTCC both put together strong MCAC campaigns, with the Cardinals finishing play in the Region XIIIB tournament and the Cyclones reaching the Region XIIIA post-season.

MCAC Volleyball fans will note that NJCAA Volleyball All-America teams, as named by the NJCAA Volleyball Committee, shall be posted in early December.

In football, Northland Community & Technical College will soon hit the highway to head to the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois in the Red Grange Bowl.  The Pioneers are set to take on Nassau Community College, currently 7-3 on the year.  For more on the Red Grange Bowl please click this link In addition, be sure to visit the Pioneer athletic department website for the most recent feature story on the NCTC season, or go to: https://northlandpioneers.com/
