MCAC, Region XIII Post-Seasons Continue in Football, Volleyball

Post-season pairings and participants are set in both volleyball and football in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference as October draws to a close. 

In football, a major upset by 4th seeded Central Lakes College over top seed Mesabi Range College by a 30-2 scoreline turned some heads and will lead to at least one top regular season finisher watching from the sidelines as post-season progresses.  The other seeds held up in competitions across the state, with NDSCS, Itasca Community College and Minnesota West CTC all claiming wins and moving forward.    

The MCAC football semi-finals on Sunday, November 3 are as follows:

Moving to Division III volleyball, the NJCAA Region XIIIB participants are set, while a play-in match on Tuesday, October 29 will finalize the four NJCAA Region XIIIA squads. 

Central Lakes College has won 16 of  their last 17 matches and will host the Region XIIIB tournament in Brainerd. The Raiders will be joined by No. 2 Mesabi Range College, No. 3 Itasca Community College and No. 4 Northland Community & Technical College.  For more on host site Central Lakes College, please visit their athletic webpage at: https://www.clcraiders.com/landing/index   The Region XIIIB tournament will take place on Friday, November 1 and Saturday November 2. 

In Region XIIIA, Southern Division champion Rochester Community & Technical College steamrolled through their MCAC schedule and will host the NJCAA Region XIIIA tournament. Two schools are set to join the Yellowjackets in Rochester on Friday, November 1 and Saturday November 2; No. 2 seed Minnesota State-Fergus Falls and No. 3 seed St. Cloud Technical  & Community College have punched their ticket to the tournament.  For facility and further information on the Region XIIIA tournament at RCTC, please go to: http://www.rctcyellowjackets.com/landing/index

The No. 4 finisher, Ridgewater College, will participate in a play-in match against independent Century College on Tuesday, October 29.   In a match scheduled for a 7:30pm start in White Bear Lake, the Warriors will look to move past the Wood Ducks in the Region tournament.
