NJCAA Women's Basketball Post-Season Play This Weekend

Two NJCAA Region XIII women's basketball post-season tournaments are set to take place Saturday, February 29 and Sunday, March 1 at separate campus sites in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference. 

The NJCAA Region XIIIB women's basketball championship will be held at Northland Community & Technical College in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.   The No. 1 seed Pioneers finished the season tied with Rainy River Community College at 13-1 in Northern Division action.  Northland won a coin flip for the right to host the tournament and will welcome Hibbing Community College and Central Lakes College, along with RRCC this weekend.   The Pioneers - currently ranked 9th in the NJCAA Division III Top 15 poll - will face off against No. 4 seed Central Lakes College (9-15 overall).  Hibbing Community College (14-9 overall), the reigning Region XIIIB champion and No. 3 seed, will take on No. 2 Rainy River (17-9 overall) in semi-final action.

The NJCAA Region XIIIA women's basketball championships are set to take place at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, also on Saturday, February 29 and Sunday, March 1.  

Three MCAC Southern Division teams will vie for the right to advance to the 2019-20 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championships.  Top seed and nationally-ranked Anoka-Ramsey Community College will face off against the winner of No. 2 seed Western Technical College (20-6 overall) and No. 3 seed Minnesota West Community & Technical College (14-11 overall).  Western Technical College is ranked 6th nationally and will be looking to defend their 2018-19 NJCAA Region XIIIA title captured last season.  The Cavaliers' trip to the 2018-29 NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championships was the first-ever NJCAA championship appearance for the college.
