Spring break trips to warmer climates have the 2020 Baseball season up and running in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference; early season games have produced the MCAC Player-of-the-Week and MCAC Pitcher-of-the-Week selections as teams take to diamonds in Florida and Arizona in March.
Adidas, the United States Marine Corps and Nicklasson Athletic Company sponsor the MCAC Athlete-of-the-Week awards, and proudly honor the following student-athletes for their performances this past week on behalf of their teams.

The Performance: Daniel Llanas tossed 5.1 innings to pick up his first win of the year in a strong outing against the Community College of Rhode Island. Llanas struck out seven and while only walking two batters while on the mound for SCTCC. The freshman from Milwaukee, Wisconsin gave up just two hits and one earned run as the Cyclones defeated CCRR, 6-1 in Lake Myrtle, Florida. |

Renae Lara Fr. / OF Las Vegas, NV

The Performance: Renae Lara hit .500 for the week, going 8-for-16 for the Blue Jays, with two doubles. Lara scored six times for MnWest and had three RBI's. A force on the basepaths, the freshman from Las Vegas, Nevada stole seven bases in nine attempts. In addition to being the offensive catalyst for the Blue Jay offense this past week, Lara also had two assists from his position in center field. |

The Performance: Carson Holsclaw produced a strong start to his Mesabi Range College career as the Norse open up their 2020 spring season. The Maple, Wisconsin product was 5-for-13 overall for the week, including a 4-for-7 effort against Century College, currently receiving votes in the NJCAA Division III Baseball poll. Holsclaw had a double and two RBI's, while also scoring for Mesabi Range.

Jonathan Lerma Fr. / LHP Tucson, AZ |

The Performance: Jonathan Lerma notched his first win of the 2020 season for Central Lakes College with a 7-inning outing against Rainy River Community College. Scattered five hits while striking out eight on the day, Lerna also had a key pickoff to help defuse a scoring chance for the Voyaguers early in the contest. In the 7th and final inning, Lerma struck out two of the three batters he faced to win the game for the Raiders. |
