SCTCC Cyclone Torez Kinchen hit 11-of-12 free throws in a 106-101 win over Hostos in the NJCAA Division III MBB National Championships

Rochester, MN-

A balanced offensive performance pushed #11 seed St. Cloud Technical and Community College past #6 Hostos in the first round of the 2019-20 NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament, as the Cyclones prevail 106-101 to extend an historic season. 

Four SCTCC starters notched double-digit scorelines, led by Eric Racine with 29 points, while Torez Kinchen had 23 and Paul Coleman added 21 points respectively, in the win.  Taye Carter scored 11 as well, as St. Cloud Technical and Community College advances to a Thursday date with #3 Eastfield at 8 pm in Rochester. One of four At-Large selections, SCTCC led all but two minutes of the contest and moves to 26-3 on the year.  

Kinchen was 11-of-12 from the free throw line and hauled in eight rebounds for head coach Andy Cone, the MCAC Southern Division Coach-of-the-Year. Racine was an impressive 5-for-6 from three point range in scoring 29 on the night and Carter was perfect from the charity stripe, at 4-for-4; he also led the Cyclones in rebounding with nine boards. Coleman led his squad with six assists. 

St. Cloud Technical and Community College advances to face #3 Eastfield tomorrow at 8:00pm in the quarterfinal round.
