MCAC FINISHES SUCCESSFUL FALL CLAY TARGET SEASON WITH DIVISION AWARDS AND VIRTUAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Itasca, MN – The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) finished off its fall Clay Target season October 14th, as the final scores of the season were submitted. This year 216 athletes from 12 MCAC schools participated in the program, which was the only fall activity available to students in the conference. The program is facilitated by the non-profit USA Clay Target League, which oversees clay target shooting sports programs in high schools and post-secondary institutions across the US. Season Awards Season competition began on September 6th and ran for five weeks, with each athlete on each school's team shooting 50 targets each week.

The MCAC divides participating schools into two divisions – Blue and Red – based on team size for fair competition during the regular season. In the Blue Division, Cole Girtz and Kiah Martinson of Alexandria Technical College earned awards for the top athletes in the Men's and Women's Division for the season, with Girtz also awarded 'Division Overall Individual High Average.' Alexandria Technical College took first place for the top team in the division.

In the Red Division, Carter Smith (Hibbing Community College) and Riley Voss (Lake Superior College) took home top male and female respectively. Smith also earned the Red Division's 'Division Overall Individual High Average' while Lake Superior College was awarded as the division's top team. The event, held on October 13th and 14th, was a success with nearly every athlete able to participate in the Championship. Mark Friedges of Vermilion Community College came out on top of a three-way tie with Devin Blume (Southwest Wisconsin Technical College) and Nick Wegner (Pine Technical & Community College) to take home the Championship's Individual award while Vermilion Community College secured the Championship's award for top team.
