For the week of March 15-21, Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) softball players garner both the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher and Player-of-the-Week awards. Emma Bartholomew earns the Pitcher-of-the-Week honor after a strong performance in her one outing of the week, and Torrie Klennert claims the Player-of-the-Week award with her outstanding offensive showcase.

Rochester Community and Technical College freshman pitcher, Emma Bartholomew, is putting together a rookie campaign that rivals the nations best.  The Rochester, MN, native is off to a 4-0 start on her young career; and in her one game this past week against Viterbo (WI), Bartholomew threw 6 innings, striking out 6 and giving up no earned runs.  She earned the win while limiting Viterbo to 5 hits and only 1 unearned run, and she did not give up a walk. In her last 4 games, Bartholomew has struck out 31 batters while only walking 3 and has an ERA of 1.52.  For her performance, Bartholomew is named the MCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week.

 

 

Torrie Klennert

1st year / 1B

Dodge Center, MN

 

 

The power hitting freshman from Dodge Center, MN, Torrie Klennert, takes home the MCAC Softball Player-of-the-Week honor.  In her one game against Viterbo (WI), Klennert came through in the clutch as she blasted the game winning walk-off home run, scoring 3, to lead her RCTC Yellowjackets to their 4th win of the season. Playing first base, Klennert was 3 for 3 in opportunities to put out Viterbo hitters.  In her 4 games this season, Klennert has amassed 3 doubles and a homerun while knocking in 6 runs on 7 hits.  RCTC returns to the field on Saturday, March 27 in Rosemount, MN, to take on Rainy River Community College and Northland Community College.
