The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) office has announced the MCAC Baseball Pitchers and Players-of-the-Week for the week of April 5 – 11.
In the MCAC North Division, Hibbing's Levi Sweere threw a complete game 4-hitter to earn the pitcher-of-the-week honors, and Jackson Bode from Mesabi Range hit .500 over six games to earn the player-of-the-week honors.
Central Lakes College's Daevion King picks up his first MCAC Central Division Pitcher-of-the-Week award after a stellar performance on the mound against Rainy River Community College, and Will Funk from St. Cloud Technical and Community College earns the Central Division Player-of-the-Week honor after blasting two home runs in a win over M State – Fergus Falls.
For the MCAC South Division, Drew Copley earns his second straight Player-of-the-Week honor after another incredible offensive performance last week. No nominations were submitted for the MCAC South Division Pitcher-of-the-Week.

Levi Sweere Fr. / Pitcher Kerkhoven, MN

Levi Sweere, the Hibbing Community College freshman hailing from Kerkhoven, MN, earned the MCAC North Division Pitcher-of-the-Week honor after throwing a complete game 4-hitter in a 12-2 victory over Mesabi Range College. Sweere struck out 7 in his five innings of work and gave up only two runs, neither of which were earned, to pick up his 2nd win of the season. Hibbing is now 4-10 on the season and returns to the diamond on Saturday, April 17 at Rochester Community and Technical College.

Jackson Bode Fr. / C - INF New Ulm, MN
|
Jackson Bode, the New Ulm, MN native and Mesabi Range College freshman had an excellent week at the plate for the Norse to earn him the MCAC North Division Player-of-the-Week award. In his six games last week, Bode had 9 hits on 18 at bats, with a triple and a double. He scored 11 runs and drove in another 3, while stealing base twice on his two attempts. Bode helped his team improve to a 4-13 record. The Norse take the field again on Saturday, April 17 at home against Vermilion Community College.

Daevion King Fr. / Pitcher Mesa, AZ

Daevion King, Central Lakes College freshman from Mesa, AZ, is named the MCAC Central Division Pitcher-of-the-Week with his 9-1 win over Rainy River Community College. King threw a complete game 5-hitter, striking out 7 and walking two while giving up only 1 unearned run in the victory. He is now 1-0 on the season and is averaging nearly 10 strikeouts per game in his two appearances. Central Lakes' record is 8-4 and they are winners of their last 3 games. The Raiders will next take on St. Cloud Technical and Community College in St. Cloud on Saturday, April 17.

Will Funk So. / CF Suak Centre, MN |
St. Cloud Technical and Community College sophomore, Will Funk, earns the MCAC Central Division Player-of-the-Week honor after hitting a game tying 3-run homer in the bottom of the 6th inning and following that with a game tying solo blast in the bottom of the 8th inning in the Cyclones win over Minnesota State – Fergus Falls last week. Funk was 6 for 11 with 2 home runs, a triple, a double, 6 RBI, and he scored 5 runs helping his Cyclones to a record of 5-0 through the week. SCTCC improves to 10-1 and takes the field next at Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Thursday, April 15.

Drew Copley Fr. / UTL Grand Meadow, MN

The MCAC South Division Player-of-the-Week is Drew Copley. Copley, a Riverland Community College freshman from Grand Meadow, MN, earned the same honor a week ago. Copley went 8 for 22 through the week, with 2 home runs and 10 RBI in his team's six games. He had 4 extra base hits and a stolen base on one try as he helped the Blue Devils improve to 15-3. Riverland will take on M-State – Fergus Falls on Wednesday, April 14.
