Anoka-Ramsey's Sunny Strait named NJCAA DIII Softball Pitcher of the Week

On Wednesday, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its National Player of the Week awards for the week of April 19-25.  Sunny Strait, the phenomenal sophomore pitcher from Anoka-Ramsey Community College, was named the NJCAA Division III Softball Pitcher of the Week.  Strait started two games last week earning wins in both.  She scattered 5 hits over 11 innings, striking out 15 batters and walking 2.  Strait gave up only 3 runs and ended the week with a 1.94 ERA.  She improved her overall record to 9-3 on the season and leads the nation in wins.

Strait is not only dominant from the pitching circle, but she also had an excellent week at the plate.  The Minnetonka, MN product went 11 for 15, hitting 4 home runs and driving in 13 RBI. Strait leads the nation in home runs with 13 and RBI with 34.

With the help of Strait's leadership and athletic talent, Anoka-Ramsey Community College sits atop the MCAC South Division with an overall record of 11-4 and a 5-1 divisional record.

Strait and the Golden Rams next take on Minnesota West Community and Technical College on Friday in Worthington, MN.
