MCAC Weekly Softball Honors - Week of April 26 - May 2

Rochester, MN –

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has announced its MCAC Softball Pitchers and Players-of-the-Week for the week of April 26 – May 2

For the north division, Central Lakes College standout Addie Sanford threw two complete games, earning wins in both.  She tossed 10 consecutive scoreless innings en route to earning the MCAC North Pitcher-of-the-Week.   Sarah Kossan from Central Lakes helped her teammate get the two wins by hitting .733 and driving in 6 RBI to earn the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week honor.

Another pitcher and position duo from the same college were named MCAC South Division Pitcher and Player-of-the-Week.  St. Cloud Technical and Community College's Kjerstin Hansen pitched a no-hitter on Friday and followed that up with a shutout on Saturday; while her teammate Justice Boyer was the catcher in those two incredible performances and helped to secure the wins by hitting .700 with four extra base hits.

North Division 

Pitcher- and Player-of-the-Week

Addie Sanford

Freshman / Pitcher

Aitkin, MN

 

 

Central Lakes College freshman standout pitcher, Addie Sanford, was named the MCAC North Pitcher-of-the-Week as she threw two complete games, going 2-0 on the week and improving her record to 4-4 on the season.  The Aitkin, MN product threw 10 consecutive scoreless innings through her 13 innings from the circle and struck out 7.  She had a 2.69 ERA for the week.  Sanford also helped at the plate by going 8 for 16 with a home run and driving in 10 runs.  Central Lakes is now 11-10 on the season and 9-3 in the division.

 

 

 

Sarah Kossan

Freshman / OF - P

Motley, MN

 

Sarah Kossan, freshman from Motley, MN, helped her Central Lakes Raiders get a couple of wins by going 11 for 15 from the plate with two doubles and 6 RBI.  She walked once, stole 3 bases, and compiled an .866 slugging percentage and .866 on-base percentage.  For her efforts, Kossan was named the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week.  Her Raider team has an 11-10 overall record and 9-3 in the MCAC North.  Central Lakes returns to action on Wednesday against Northland.

                            

 

South Division 

Pitcher and Player-of-the-Week

Kjerstin Hansen

Freshman / Pitcher 

Tea, SD

Kjerstin Hansen put together a pair of games that will finish the season as two of the best outings of any MCAC softball player in 2021.  The St. Cloud Technical and Community College freshman from Tea, SD threw a no-hitter on Friday evening and then followed that up with a shutout game on Saturday.  In her 10 innings of work, Hansen gave up no runs and no walks, while only allowing 4 hits and striking out 9.  She extended her record to 7-2 on the season.  Hansen also helped at the plate by hitting .538 with 2 triples, 2 doubles, and 9 RBI.  She was named the MCAC South Pitcher-of-the-Week.  CTCC improves to 12-6 overall and 8-2 in the division and returns to play on Tuesday versus Minnesota West.

 

 

Justice Boyer

Freshman / C - OF

Kimball, MN

 

St. Cloud Technical and Community College freshman, Justice Boyer, went 7 for 10 at the plate with a triple, three doubles, and 5 RBI last week to earn the MCAC South Player-of-the-Week award.  The Kimball, MN native not only dominated the plate offensively, but she was the signal caller behind the plate for her teammate's impressive no-hitter and shutout games.  Boyer helped her Cyclones improve to 12-6 for the season and 8-2 in the MCAC South and can be seen in action again on Tuesday at home against Minnesota West.
