NJCAA names Kjerstin Hansen DIII Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week

On Wednesday, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its National Player of the Week awards for the week of April 26 - May 3, and for the second straight week, an MCAC Softball athlete was named National Pitcher-of-the-Week.  St. Cloud Technical and Community College's Kjerstin Hansen earns that honor this week after Sunny Strait from Anoka-Ramsey Community College took home the same award last week.

The Cyclone freshman from Tea, SD threw a no-hitter on Friday evening and then followed that up with another shutout game on Saturday.  In her 10 innings of work, Hansen gave up no runs and no walks, while only allowing 4 hits and striking out 9.  She extended her record to 7-2 on the season and is currently ranked 8th in the nation in shutout games.

Hansen also helped at the plate by hitting .538 with 2 triples, 2 doubles, and 9 RBI.  For her efforts, she was also named the MCAC South Pitcher-of-the-Week.

St. Cloud Technical and Community College, behind the incredible pitching of Hansen, has improved to 12-6 overall and 8-2 in the division.  The Cyclones play next on Saturday at home against the Raiders of Central Lakes College.
