US Marines MCAC Weekly Volleyball Honors: Week of September 6-12

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of September 6 - 12. These awards are sponsored by the US Marines

Century College outside hitter, Alice Schneider, earned her first MCAC South Offensive Player-of-the-Week award with her 15 kills and .522 hitting efficiency against #4 RCTC, followed up by a 12 kill performance against Anoka-Ramsey.   Bailey Marty, the #9 Minnesota State Community and Technical College libero, earns her second straight MCAC South Defensive Player-of-the-Week award after digging 94 balls in 13 sets last week.

After two weeks of Central Lakes College hitters earning MCAC North Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors, the Raider setter, Grace Peabody claims the award this week.  In 11 sets, Peabody had 108 assists and 36 digs in her team's 3 victories during the week.  Mesabi Range College's Taylor Mejdrich takes home the MCAC North Defensive-Player-of-the-Week honor for the second straight week. Mejdrich dug 22 balls and served 4 aces in her 6 sets, while passing a perfect 3.0 in serve receive.

Century College's outside hitter, Alice Schneider, earned this week's South Division Offensive-Player-of-the-Week honor after compiling 27 kills in two matches and serving 4 aces to help her team to a 1-1 record.  In the loss to #4 Rochester Community and Technical College, the freshman from Nancy, France had 15 kills in 3 sets, good enough for a .522 hitting efficiency.  She also had two assists on the week.

Century is now 4-4 on the season and 1-3 in the South Division.  They take the court again on Wednesday at Western Tech.

                    

Bailey Marty

Minnesota State - Fergus Falls' libero Bailey Marty has earned this week's South Division Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor, her second in as many weeks.  The sophomore from Chokio, MN, dug 94 balls in 13 sets, averaging over 7 digs per set.  She also served 5 aces throughout the week.  Marty currently ranks 6th in the nation in total digs with 179 and ranks 3rd in digs per set with 7.16. 

Minnesota State - Fergus Falls is now 4-3 overall and 3-0  in the South Division.  The Spartans take on Morris College JV on Wednesday.

 

 

Other Notable Performers

Anya Maack (Middle Hitter, Minnesota State-Fergus Falls): 24 kills in 12 sets, hitting over .600 in two of her four matches.

 

 

 

MCAC Volleyball - North Division

Grace Peabody

The MCAC North Offensive Player-of-the-Week honor was earned by #5 Central Lakes freshman setter, Grace Peabody. Leading her team to 3 wins this week, the Brainerd, MN product compiled 108 assists, 7 service aces, and 36 digs in the 11 sets played.  Peabody has been instrumental in commanding the Raider offense that has produced two other MCAC North offensive players-of-the-week, and she currently ranks 4th in the nation in assists.

With the three wins this week, the Raiders are now 8-4 overall and 3-0 on the season, and they return to the court on Friday to play Iowa Central and Jamestown JV at the NDSCS Tournament.

                    

Taylor Mejdrich

Orr, MN

 

 

Taylor Mejdrich, the North Division Defensive Player-of-the-Week award winner from Mesabi Range College, earns her second straight weekly award. In her team's 6 sets this week, the Orr, MN sophomore outside hitter had 22 digs and 4 service aces.  Mejdrich also hit .355 with 14 kills and passed a perfect 3.0 in serve receive. 

Mesabi Range College will return to action Friday at home against Riverland Community College.  Mesabi Range is now 2-5 on the season and 2-1 in the North Division.

Camryn Olsen (Middle Hitter, Mesabi Range College): 20 kills and 5 aces in 6 sets, as well as 5 blocks and 15 digs for the Norse

Kimberly Pagel (Middle Hitter, Hibbing CC): 43 kills and 6 aces in 13 sets and helped lead her team to their first 2 wins of the season

Kaelynn Kudis (Middle Hitter, Vermilion CC): 41 kills and 4 aces in 14 sets, along with 15 blocks and 43 digs for the week
