US Marines MCAC Weekly Soccer Honors: Week of September 13-19

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of September 13-19.  These awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines. Rochester Community and Technical College goalkeeper Fatima Sanchez Hernandez has been named the Women's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week following another shutout performance, her third of the season.   Sierra Dehmer from Anoka-Ramsey Community College claims the Field Athlete-of-the-Week after scoring 4 goals on 4 shots on goal. 

In MCAC Men's Soccer, Jose Helder Neto from Riverland Community College scored a hat-trick in his team's win over Lake Superior College, and helped earn him the Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor.  There were no nominations for the goalkeeper of the week.

Goalkeeper and Field Player of the Week

 

 

Fatima Sanchez Hernandez

Rochester Community and Technical College sophomore goalkeeper, Fatima Sanchez Hernandez (Banning, CA), had another shutout for the Yellowjackets last week to earn the MCAC Goalkeeper of the Week.  With only two shots on goal, the MCAC leader in shutout performances saved both shots to secure the win over Lake Superior College.  In her five games this season, Hernandez is 3-2 with 34 saves and 1.11 goal against average.  This was the 9th shutout of her career, and she now has 180 career saves.

The Yellowjackets return to the field on Wednesday when they travel to Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.  They are now 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

Brooklyn Park, MN

 

 

The MCAC Women's Soccer Field Player-of-the-Week honor goes to Anoka-Ramsey Community College sophomore forward Sierra Dehmer.  Dehmer scored four goals on four shots-on-goal, and also had an assist.  The Brooklyn Park, MN product now has seven goals and two assists on the season.

The Golden Rams have a 1-3 overall record, and are 1-0 in the conference.  They return to action on Saturday at Rochester Community and Technical College.

Jose Helder Neto

The MCAC Men's Soccer Field Athlete-of-the-Week is Jose Helder Neto, freshman forward for Riverland Community College.  Neto, a native of Fortaleza, Brazil scored a hat trick in Riverland's win over Lake Superior College on Sunday.  His three goals in the contest occured on six shots, and were Neto's fourth and fifth goals of the season.  He leads the MCAC in goals scored during conference play.

The Blue Devil's have an overall record of 2-4-1 and are 1-0-1 in the MCAC.  They play at Minnesota West on Wednesday.
