The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of September 13-19. These awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines.
Rochester Community and Technical College sweeps the weekly awards for the MCAC South Division. Outside hitter Alexis Simpson earned the MCAC South Offensive Player-of-the-Week award with her 32 kills and 4 service aces in the team's three wins last week. Kiley Nihart, RCTC's libero, claims the MCAC South Defensive Player-of-the-Week award after digging 62 balls in 9 sets last week.
Kaisa Reed takes home Itasca Community College's first MCAC North Offensive Player-of-the-Week award after averaging over four kills per set and acing seven serves in her two matches last week. Mesabi Range College's middle blocker, Camryn Olsen, earned the MCAC North Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor with her eight block and 20 dig performance. This is the third straight week a Mesabi Range defender has earned the award.

Rochester Community and Technical College's outside hitter, Alexis Simpson, earned this week's South Division Offensive-Player-of-the-Week honor after compiling 32 kills in three matches and serving 4 aces to help her team to a 3-0 record. The freshman from Caledonia, MN had 15 kills in 21 swings in the team's win over Anoka-Ramsey. She also had seven assists on the week. The #5 ranked Yellowjackets are now 6-3 on the season and 5-0 in the South Division. They take the court again at home on Wednesday to play Western Tech. |
Kiley Nihart Fr. / Libero Medford, MN

Kiley Nihart, freshman libero for Rochester Community and Technical College, has earned this week's South Division Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor. The Medford, MN native dug 62 balls in 9 sets, averaging 6.89 digs per set. In the win over Anoka-Ramsey, Nihart scooped up 32 digs and had only 3 errors. She also served 2 aces throughout the week. #5 RCTC is now 6-3 overall and 5-0 in the South Division. The Yellowjackets take on Western Tech on Wednesday.

Kaisa Reed earns the MCAC North Offensive Player-of-the-Week honor. The Itasca Community College outside hitter had 33 kills and averaged 4.13 kills per set last week to lead her Vikings to their first win of the season. Reed, a freshman from Bovey, MN also had seven service aces, four blocks, and 24 digs on the week. In her match with Mesabi Range, Reed had 26 kills and 23 digs to lead all players. The Vikings are now 1-4 overall and 0-4 in the North Division, and they return to the court on Wednesday to play at Northland. |
Camryn Olsen Fr. / Middle Blocker Cotton, MN

Cameron Olsen earned the North Division Defensive Player-of-the-Week award. The Mesabi Range College freshman middle blocker had eight total blocks, 4 of them solo, and 20 digs in her eight sets last week. Olsen also had 5 service aces and had a .208 attack percentage with 22 kills through the week. Mesabi Range College will return to action at Vermilion on Wednesday evening taking a 3-6 overall record and 3-1 North Division record into that match. |
