The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its week 5 football awards for the week of September 20 - 26. The MCAC Football Player-of-the-Week awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines.
Central Lakes College placed two athletes on the list of award recipients this week after their 44-19 win over Mesabi Range College. Matt Torres, the Raiders quarterback, earned an Offensive Player-of-the-Week award by throwing 4 touchdowns and 256 yards on 15 completions. Raiders kicker, Vicente Torres, was named Special Teams Player-of-the-Week kicking 5 extra points and making a 20 yard field goal.
North Dakota State College of Science quarterback, Graedyn Buell, takes home his second weekly award earning an Offensive Player-of-the-Week award. Buell threw 5 touchdowns in the Wildcats win and helped his team stay undefeated on the season.
Minnesota State - Fergus Falls and Minnesota West athletes split the Defensive Player-of-the-Week awards. Matthew Croteau, linebacker for M State, had 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks in a tough loss to #4 Itasca Community College. Minnesota West linebacker, Kendrick Gordon, had 11 tackles and an interception in the Bluejays win over #5 Rochester Community and Technical College.
Each week throughout the 2021 season, two offensive, two defensive, and a special teams athlete will be named players-of-the-week, based on nominations submitted by MCAC member football programs.

Graedyn Buell Fr. / QB Cheyenne, WY

North Dakota State College of Science quarterback, Graedyn Buell, completed 18 of 26 passes for 276 yards and 5 touchdowns en route to a 50-14 win over Vermilion Community College. For his efforts, Buell was named an Offensive Player-of-the-Week. The freshman from Cheyenne, WY also rushed 8 times for 38 yards. Buell is second in the nation in passing touchdowns with nine and fifth in the nation in passing yards per game with 177.3. The #3 ranked Wildcats are now 5-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play. They return to the field on Saturday when they travel to Central Lakes College. |

Matt Torres, freshman quarterback for Central Lakes College has been named an Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Torres completed 15 passes on 20 attempts and threw for 256 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead his Raider team to a 44-19 win over Mesabi Range College. The Riverside, IL product's long pass was 60 yards on the day. Central Lakes College is now 2-3 on the season and 2-2 in MCAC play, and the Raiders host #3 North Dakota State College of Science on Saturday. |

Matthew Croteau, freshman linebacker for Minnesota State - Fergus Falls, earns a Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor with his 17 tackles, three of which resulted in loss of yardage on the play. The Avanel, NJ native also had a sack and a half in the game. The Spartans are 3-2 on the season, 2-2 in conference play. They travel to Rochester Community and Technical College to play on Saturday. |

Minnesota West Community and Technical College sophomore linebacker, Kendrick Gordon, earns a Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor after his 11 tackle performance in his team's win over #5 Rochester Community and Technical College. The Nashville, TN native had six solo tackles and an interception in the game. His interception occurred late in the game to secure the win. The Bluejays are now 2-3 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. Minnesota West travels to Vermilion Community College to play on Saturday. |
