US Marines MCAC Weekly Volleyball Honors: Week of September 27 - October 3

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of September 27 - October 3. The weekly volleyball awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines

Minnesota State -Fergus Falls and St. Cloud Technical and Community College each have an athlete earn one of the weekly awards for the MCAC South Division after both going 3-0 throughout the past week. Karissa Lintgen, outside hitter for St. Cloud Tech has earned the MCAC South Offensive Player-of-the-Week award after racking up 44 kills in 11 sets and serving two aces.  Bailey Marty, M State's libero, claims the MCAC South Defensive Player-of-the-Week award for the second straight week after digging 87 balls and serving two aces in her 10 sets of action.

Central Lakes College athletes sweep the MCAC North weekly awards. Jaimie Johnson, outside hitter for the Raiders, claims the Offensive Player-of-the-Week award as she put down 35 kills and served up 6 aces in her three matches last week.  Haley Schleper, middle hitter for CLC, earned the Defensive Player-of-the-Week award with 10 blocks and 33 digs in 9 sets of play.

MCAC Volleyball - South Division

Karissa Lintgen

Fr. / Outside Hitter

St. Cloud, MN

 

 

St. Cloud Technical and Community College outside hitter, Karissa Lintgen, has earned this week's South Division Offensive Player-of-the-Week award after putting down 44 kills to only 11 errors in 100 swings (.330 hitting efficiency). The freshman from St. Cloud, MN, also served two aces to lead her team to three more wins.

St. Cloud Tech is now 11-3 on the season and 7-2 in the South Division.  The Cyclones travel to Century College to play on Wednesday.

                    

Bailey Marty

So. / Libero

Chokio, MN

 

 

 

Bailey Marty, freshman libero for Minnesota State Community and Technical College, brings home her second straight South Division Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor.  The Chokio, MN native dug 87 balls in 10 sets, averaging 8.70 digs per set.  Marty also had 2 service aces last week.  Marty leads the nation in digs with 398 on the season. 

M State - Fergus Falls is now 10-4 overall and 9-1 in the South Division.  They take the court again at home on Friday against Rochester Community and Technical College.

 

 

Other Notable Performers

Molly Kleist (Middle Hitter, RCTC): 47 kills with a .228 hitting efficiency, 2 aces, and 6 assists.

Brooke Hovland (Outside Hitter, MSFF): 35 kills in 10 sets.

Allison Fritz (Libero, SCTCC): 90 digs and an ace in 11 sets. Broke school record with 42 digs in a match.

Kiley Nihart (Libero, RCTC): 87 digs and 7 aces in 16 sets.

Jaimie Johnson

Fr. / Outside Hitter - Middle Hitter

Pine River, MN

 

 

Jaimie Johnson earns the MCAC North Offensive Player-of-the-Week honor after compiling 35 kills and only having 2 errors on 69 swings in her team's three wins last week. The Central Lakes College outside hitter hit .478 and averaged 3.89 kills per set, and also dug 11 balls and had 4 blocks. Johnson, a Pine River native, served up six aces as well.

The Raiders are now 14-8 overall, 7-0 in the North Division and are ranked #8 in the nation.  They return to the court on Wednesday to play UM Morris JV.

 

Haley Schleper

So. / Middle Hitter - Rightside Hitter

St. Joseph, MN

 

 

Haley Schleper earns the MCAC North Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor, her first defensive award and third weekly award of the season. The Central Lakes College middle hitter had 10 blocks and 33 digs in her 9 sets, while also putting down 38 kills and two aces.  Schleper, a sophomore from St. Joseph, MN also had four assists, and put together a double-double (17 kills & 15 digs) in her match against Lake Region State. 

At 14-8 overall and 7-0 in the MCAC North, the Raiders return to action on Wednesday to play host to UM Morris JV.

Athena Dunham (Outside Hitter, Hibbing CC): 13 kills and .364 hitting efficiency in 3 sets, 4 aces.

Kaelynn Kudis (Middle Hitter, Vermilion CC): 23 kills and .583 hitting efficiency in 6 sets with 2 aces.

Thea Baier (Setter, Vermilion CC): 53 assists, 4 kills, and 10 aces in 6 sets.
