US Marines MCAC Weekly Soccer Honors: Week of October 4 - 10

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of October 4 - 10.  These awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines. Rochester Community and Technical College goalkeeper Fatima Sanchez Hernandez has been named the Women's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week again as she picked up her 11th career shutout in a 2-0 win over Faith Baptist Bible College. Teammate Addison Knick brings home the Field Athlete-of-the-Week award after scoring the first goal for RCTC in their win over Faith Baptist this past week. 

There were no MCAC Men's Soccer Player-of-the-Week nominations this week.

Goalkeeper and Field Player of the Week

 

 

Fatima Sanchez Hernandez

Rochester Community and Technical College's goalkeeper, Fatima Sanchez Hernandez, picked up her 11th career shutout and 5th of this season in the Yellowjackets win over Faith Baptist Bible College last week. In 90 minutes of action, the Banning, CA sophomore had six saves on six shots to secure the win for her team.  She is now 7-2 on the season.

The Yellowjackets remain undefeated in MCAC play (3-0) and have moved to 7-2 overall this season.  They return to the field on Wednesday as they host Gustavus Adolphus College.

                    

Addison Knick

Big Lake, MN

 

The MCAC Women's Soccer Field Player-of-the-Week honor was awarded to Addison Knick, sophomore forward for Rochester Community and Technical College. Knick, hailing from Big Lake, MN, scored the first goal of the game to defeat Faith Baptist Bible College in the Yellowjackets lone game of the week. On her first of two shots, at the 26 minute mark in the initial half, Knick knocked the webs off the net with her one goal of the game and fourth of the season. 

Rochester Community and Technical College is 7-2 overall and 3-0 in MCAC play, and they play at home Wednesday against Gustavus Adolphus College.
