US Marines MCAC Week 7 Football Honors Announced

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its week 7 football awards for the week of October 4 - 10.  The MCAC Football Player-of-the-Week awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines.

A couple of wide receivers claim this week's Offensive Player-of-the-Week honors. #2 North Dakota State College of Science wide receiver, Demetrius Coleman, earned one of the Player-of-the-Week awards after catching 4 balls for 145 yards and a TD on Saturday in the Wildcats win over Rochester Community and Technical College.  Tucker Schultz, the standout wide out from Central Lakes College earned his second consecutive Offensive Player-of-the-Week award with his 6 catch, 156 yard and 2 touchdown receiving day. 

Chase Dressel, Central Lakes College linebacker, had 10 tackles and an interception to earn a Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor.  Connor Loy, linebacker for Rochester Community and Technical College, earned the other Defensive Player-of-the-Week award by picking up 11 total tackles with two of them for losses on the play.

Vicente Torres picks up his second Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award of the season.  The Central Lakes College kicker went 5 for 6 on his extra point tries in his team's 42-6 win over Vermilion Community College on Saturday. 

Each week throughout the 2021 season, two offensive, two defensive, and a special teams athlete will be named players-of-the-week, based on nominations submitted by MCAC member football programs.

Tucker Schultz

Kimball, MN

 

 

Central Lakes College wide receiver, Tucker Schultz, caught six balls for 156 yards and two touchdowns in the Raiders lopsided win over Vermilion Community College. The freshman from Kimball, MN averaged 26 yards per catch, and continues to average over 25 yards per reception on the season.  With his effort, Schultz earns the Offensive Player-of-the-Week award.

The Raiders are now 3-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play.  They return to the field on Saturday when they host Itasca Community College.

                    

Demetrius Coleman

Richfield, MN

 

 

Demetrius Coleman, sophomore wide receiver for the #2 ranked North Dakota State College of Science, has been named an Offensive Player-of-the-Week.  Coleman caught 4 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown in his team's win over Rochester Community and Technical College.  The Richfield, MN native has 556 receiving yards on the season, averaging over 15 yards per catch this year. 

North Dakota State College of Science is now 7-0 on the season and 6-0 in MCAC play, and the Wildcats wrap up their regular season on Saturday when they travel to Mesabi Range College.

William Carswell (WR, Itasca CC): 5 catches for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns

Dylan Ingram (RB, Rochester CTC):  22 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown

Nate Hayden (QB, M State CTC): 28-47 for 377 yards and 4 touchdowns

Graedyn Buell (QB, NDSCS): 12-25 for 313 yards and 2 touchdowns; 13 rushes for 71 yards

Defensive Players-of-the-Week

 

Chase Dressel

Mounds View, MN

 

 

Chase Dressel, sophomore linebacker for Central Lakes College, earns a Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor with his 10 tackles and one interception in his team's win over Vermilion Community College.  The Mounds View, MN product had three tackles for loss of yardage. Dressel now has 40 tackles on the season and is averaging nearly six per game.

The Raiders are 3-4 on the season, 3-3 in conference play.  They host #4 Itasca Community College on Saturday.

 

Conner Loy

Fr. / LB

Wanakee, WI

 

 

Rochester Community and Technical College freshman linebacker, Connor Loy, earns a Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor after his 11 tackle performance in his team's loss to then #3 NDSCS on Saturday.  The Wanakee, WI native had seven solo tackles with two of them for a loss of yardage.  Loy has 54 tackles this season, averaging nearly 8 per game.

The Yellowjackets are now 4-3 on the season and 3-3 in conference play, and they travel to Vermilion Community College to play on Saturday.

Daemond Gibbons (DB, NDSCS):  3 solo and 4 assisted tackles, 1 interception

Malachi Ledbetter (DL, Itasca CC):  5 total tackles with two for loss of yardage, and two sacks

Chicureo, Chile

 

Central Lakes College freshman kicker, Vicente Torres, earned his second Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award this season after going 5 for 6 on extra point attempts on Saturday.  The Chicurea, Chile product has now made 14 of 21 point after attempts.

The Raiders are now 3-4 on the season and 3-3 in the MCAC.  They conclude their regular season by hosting #4 Itasca Community College on Saturday.
