U.S. Marines MCAC Athletes of the Week Announced: Week of December 6-12

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its athlete-of-the-week awards for the week of December 6-12.  The weekly athlete-of-the-week awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines

Jerome Washington, freshman forward, led his Itasca Community College Vikings to two wins last week, scoring 61 points and pulling down 32 rebounds, to earn him the MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor. 

Mesabi Range College freshman point guard, Alani Pettis, earns the week's MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award.  Pettis scored 67 points and had 15 assists in her three games last week.

Cleveland Bedgood is this week's MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week.  The Riverland Community College sophomore guard grabbed 20 rebounds and scored 45 points in the Blue Devils three wins last week. Bedgood helped keep his RCC team at the #3 spot in the latest NJCAA poll.

Abby Berskow, the freshman shooting guard for Ridgewater College, earns the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.  Berskow scored 38 points and had 9 assists in the Warriors two games during the week.

There were no nominations for Wrestling Athlete-of-the-Week this week.

Itasca Community College freshman forward, Jerome Washington, hit 16 of 28 shots from the field (57%) and scored 61 points in the Vikings three games last week, helping his team go 2-1.  The Andover, Kansas product also had 32 rebounds, 7 steals, 3 blocks, and 4 assists in 81 minutes of action. Oliver is this week's MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week. 

The Viking's record is now 5-5 on the season, and they return to the court on Saturday at Gogebic Community College.

Alani Pettis

Alani Pettis, freshman point guard for Mesabi Range College, has been named the MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week.  Pettis, hailing from Minneapolis, MN, scored 67 points and grabbed 25 rebounds, 15 assists, 8 steals, and a block in her 106 minutes of play. She had two double-doubles last week and put up 26 points against Rochester Community and Technical College.

Mesabi Range College is now 2-7 on the season and takes a break until January 5 when they travel to Vermilion Community College.

Johnny Robert Spencer (MBB, SF, Mesabi Range College): 55 points, 29 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 assists in 112 minutes.

Kendris Henry (MBB, PF, Rainy River CC): 32 points, 10 rebounds, 2 steals, and 5 assists in 63 minutes.

Zaa Buffalo (MBB, F, Central Lakes College): 6 of 10 shooting, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists in 28 minutes.

Keylee Dahl (WBB, C, Northland CTC): 53 points, 32 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal in 88 minutes.

Cleveland Bedgood, sophomore guard for #3 Riverland Community College, hit 17 of 30 shots, and went 6 for 14 from behind the 3-PT arc to score 45 points for the Blue Devils.  He earns this week's MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.  From Miami, FL, Bedgood also had 20 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, and a block in his team's three wins during the week. 

The Blue Devils are now 10-0, and they take the court again on Tuesday at Rockford University.

Ridgewater Community College shooting guard, Abby Berskow, scored 38 points in 60 minutes of action last week.  The freshman from Willmar, MN earns the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award.  Berskow also grabbed 12 rebounds, 5 steals, and assisted on 9 baskets. 

The Warriors are 2-4 on the season, and now are off until January 5 when they host St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

Camryn McQuery (WBB, C, Riverland CC): 14 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks in 36 minutes.
