NJCAA Region XIII has announced its All-Region XIII Football Team for the 2021 season, and 25 student-athletes competing at MCAC member colleges have been named to the team. Minnesota State Community & Technical College saw eight (8) players make the distringuished team, while Itasca Community College named six (6), North Dakota State College of Science had four (4), Central Lakes College named three (3), and Minnesota West Community & Technical College and Vermilion Community College each had two (2) selections.
Nate Hayden, Minnesota State CTC quarterback, was named Region XIII Offensive Player-of-the-Year; and Itasca Community College's defensive lineman, Ja'Sion Greathouse, was named the Region XIII Defensive Player-of-the-Year.
Hayden, a freshman from Flower Mound, TX, completed 180 of his 326 passing attempts (55.2%) for 2546 yards and 18 touchdowns. He ended the season with a 130.4 passing rating, averaging 282.9 yards per pass. Minnesota State - Fergus Falls concluded their season at 6-4, making it all the way to the MCAC/Region XIII Championship Game. That game was not played due to COVID outbreaks.
Greathouse, the Chicago, IL freshman, led the nation in sacks with 20.5 and racked up 55 total tackles on the season, averaging 6.1 tackles per game. He also recovered 3 fumbles, one which was returned for a touchdown. Itasca Community College took their 9-1 record and #2 national ranking into the MCAC/Region XIII Championship Game, but had that game canceled due to COVID.
