U.S. Marines MCAC Athletes-of-the-Week Announced: Week of December 27 - January 2

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its athlete-of-the-week awards for the week of December 27 - January 2.  The weekly athlete-of-the-week awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines.  

Rochester Community and Technical College athletes sweep the MCAC South Men's and Women's Basketball awards. In 52 minutes of action, Peyton Dunham scored 33 points and had 14 rebounds and 6 assists in his Yellowjackets two contests against scholarship programs.  Olivia Christianson picked up her second triple-double of the season in a 79-16 win over Hibbing Community College, scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 steals.  In her two games last week, Christianson netted 34 points with 17 rebounds and 17 steals. 

With limited action last week due to the holidays, there were no wrestlers or MCAC North Division basketball athletes nominated for the athlete-of-the-week awards.

Peyton Dunham

Peyton Dunham, a freshman power forward for Rochester Community and Technical College, hit 14 of 18 shots, and went 4 for 5 from the charity stripe, to score 33 points for the Yellowjackets on his way to earning the MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.  The Rochester, MN product also had 14 rebounds, 6 assists, and a block in his 52 minutes of action.

Rochester Community and Technical College is now 10-3 on the season, and they take the court again on Wednesday to kick off divisional play, playing host to Western Technical College.

Rochester Community and Technical College guard, Olivia Christianson, played 62 minutes in her team's two wins last week and earns the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award.  The sophomore from Lyle, MN scored 34 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and 17 steals, while also assisting on 5 baskets. She led her Yellowjackets team to impressive wins over #5 Northland Community and Technical College (55-34) and Hibbing Community College (79-16), picking up her second triple-double of the season in that final contest.

The Yellowjackets are now 7-4 and play again Wednesday when they host Western Technical College to start divisional competition.

Jayna Gronewold (WBB, Point Guard, M State - Fergus Falls): 31 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal.
