U.S. Marines MCAC Athletes-of-the-Week Announced: Week of January 3-9

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its athlete-of-the-week awards for the week of January 3-9.  The athlete-of-the-week awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines

Mesabi Range College shooting guard Mark Campbell II returned from the holiday layoff in excellent all-around form, averaging 19 points per game, with 10 rebounds and 8 assists per game as well.  Campbell II earns this weeks MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.

Freshman center for Northland Community and Technical College, Keylee Dahl, earns this week's MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award.  Her 36 points and 16 rebounds helped the Pioneers to two blowout victories last week.  

Cleveland Bedgood, Riverland Community College sophomore guard, scored 25 points on 8 of 14 shooting, knocking down three 3-pointers, while also grabbing 7 rebounds and 4 assists in his lone game during the week to earn the MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award.

In her team's two wins last week, Madisyn Huisman from Minnesota West Community and Technical College, scored 36 points and had 6 steals and 16 rebounds to earn her the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honors.

Andy Dostal earns this week's MCAC Wrestling Athlete-of-the-Week honor. The Itasca Community College sophomore kept his undefeated streak alive going 3-0 against nationally recognized opponents and helping his team win the Northlands Dual Tournament.

Mesabi Range College freshman shooting guard, Mark Campbell II, scored 38 points in 65 minutes of play last week to earn the MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award.  Campbell II, from Minneapolis, MN, hit 50% of his shots (14-28) from the field including two 3-pointers, and went 8-10 from the free throw line.  He also pulled down 20 rebounds, and had 16 assists and 3 steals.  Campbell II recorded a triple double against Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists.  

The Norse won both games last week and are now 4-9 overall and 2-0 in conference play.   They return to the court on Wednesday hosting Hibbing Community College.

Keylee Dahl, freshman center for Northland Community and Technical College, has been named the MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week.  The Newfolden, MN, native scored 36 points and grabbed 16 rebounds and an assist in her 40 minutes of play.  She shot 14-24 from the field (58%) in her team's two wins last week.

Northland is now 9-7 on the season and 2-0 in MCAC play.  The Pioneers take the court again on Thursday when they host Concordia College - Moorhead JV.

Jalen Dearring (MBB, Point Guard, Central Lakes College): 42 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 10 assists, and a block.

Jehoida Goins (MBB, Center, Fond du Lac Tribal CC): 58 points, 27 rebounds, and 2 assists in 80 minutes of play.

Cleveland Bedgood

Cleveland Bedgood, Riverland Community College's sophomore guard, hit 8 of 14 shots (57%), and went 3 for 4 from behind the 3-PT arc and 6-6 from the free throw line, to score 25 points for the Blue Devils. With his lone performance, Bedgood earned the MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.  The Miami, FL, product also had 7 rebounds and 4 assists in his team's 69-58 win over Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

Riverland is now 13-1 overall and 1-0 in the MCAC, and they take the court again on Wednesday at Rochester Community and Technical College.

Minnesota West Community and Technical College shooting guard, Madisyn Huisman, led her team to two wins over MCAC South Division opponents to earn the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award.  The freshman from Worthington, MN scored 36 points on 16-28 shooting (57%), grabbed 16 rebounds, had 4 assists, and 6 steals in 31 minutes of action.  Huisman also shot 50% from behind the 3-point arc.

The Lady Jays are now 6-9 overall and 2-0 in MCAC play, and next host Minnesota State - Fergus Falls on Wednesday.

Keivonte Watts (MBB, Shooting Guard, Rochester CTC): 38 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists, and a steal.

Langston Davis (MBB, Forward, Minnesota State CTC): 51 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and 3 blocks.

Nic Pearson (MBB, Guard, Minnesota State CTC): 46 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and a block.

Camryn McQuery (WBB, Forward, Riverland CC): 45 points, 34 rebounds, 10 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.

Andy Dostal

Andy Dostal, 184 lb. sophomore wrestler from Itasca Community College earns this week's MCAC Wrestling Athlete-of-the-Week honor.  Dostal went 3-0 at the Northlands Dual Tournament to maintain his undefeated record and lead his team to the tournament championship.  With his pin over nationally ranked Jarvis Echols of Bryant & Stratton, Dostal helped the Vikings secure the championship win.   

Itasca Community College hosts the MCAC Duals on Wednesday.  Competition begins at Noon.
