U.S. Marines MCAC Athletes-of-the-Week Announced:  Week of January 17 - 23

Rochester, MN-

The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its athlete-of-the-week awards for the week of January 17 - 23.  The weekly athlete-of-the-week awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines

Quamar Gresham, a freshman guard for Central Lakes College, scored 40 points over 40 minutes of play last week, knocking down 60% of his 3-point shots, and earning him the MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.  

Rainy River Community College freshman forward, B'jne Arvie, earns the week's MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award with her double-double of 20 points and 19 rebounds in her only game of the week. 

Riverland Community College's sophomore guard, Cleveland Bedgood, earns this week's MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for the third time this season. In his team's two wins last week, Bedgood scored 42 points and picked up 14 rebounds.  

Savannah Longhoma, freshman guard for Riverland Community College, earns the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor and helps Riverland sweep this week's MCAC South Division awards.  Longhoma scored 37 points and had 7 rebounds, helping to lift her Blue Devils team into the top 4 of the MCAC South Division. 

Willie VonRuden, 157 lb. wrestler for Rochester Community and Technical College, went 4-0 this past weekend, earning a major decision win in the finals of the Harper Open.  With his performance, VonRuden earns the MCAC Wrestling Athlete-of-the-Week honor.

Central Lakes College freshman point guard, Quamar Gresham, scored 40 points in the Raiders two road conference wins last week, knocking down 6 three-pointers.  The St. Cloud, MN native also had 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in his 40 minutes of action. Gresham is this week's MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week. 

The Raiders are now 8-10 on the season and 4-2 in conference play.  They return to the court on Wednesday when they host Vermilion Community College.

Rainy River Community College's B'jne Arvie has been named the MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week after her stellar performance on both ends of the court in her one game last week. The freshman forward from Orange, TX, scored 20 points, going 9 for 13, and grabbing 19 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals in her 26 minutes of play. 

Rainy River is now 7-8 on the season and 2-1 in the MCAC. The Voyageurs return to action on Wednesday, hosting Mesabi Range College.

Jehoida Goins (MBB, Center, Fond du Lac TCC): Broke the school record with 31 rebounds on Saturday.

Quelyn Nelson (MBB, PF, Rainy River CC): 43 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists in 43 minutes.

Jalen Dearring (MBB, PG, Central Lakes): 47 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists in 59 minutes.

Mya Roberts (WBB, PG, Itasca CC): 28 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals in 40 minutes.

Kasey Stegman (WBB, Forward, Northland CTC): 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in 27 minutes.

Cleveland Bedgood, sophomore guard for #6 Riverland Community College, scored 42 points on 15 for 28 shooting, and connected on seven 3-point shots in his team's 2 wins last week. He earns this week's MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor for the third time this season. The Miami, Florida product also had 14 rebounds, 8 assists, and 3 blocks in his 54 minutes on the court. 

The Blue Devils are now 16-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.  They host St. Cloud Technical and Community College on Wednesday.

Riverland Community College freshman guard, Savannah Longhoma, scored 37 points in 41 minutes of action while leading her team to two wins last week and inserting the Lady Devils into the top 4 of the South Division. The Grand Canyon, AZ native earns the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award, her first of the season.  Longhoma also grabbed 7 rebounds and a steal, while assisting on 4 baskets. 

The Lady Devils are 10-2 on the season and 3-2 in MCAC play. They'll take the court again on Wednesday, hosting St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

Keivonte Watts (MBB, SG, Rochester CTC): 43 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals in 62 minutes.

DJ Brown (MBB, PG, Ridgewater College): 50 points, 11 rebounds, and 15 assists.

Tierre Davis (MBB, Guard, St. Cloud TCC): 39 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block.

Willie VonRuden, wrestling at 157 lb. for Rochester Community and Technical College, earns this week's MCAC Wrestling Athlete-of-the-Week honor.  VonRuden went 4-0 at the Harper Open this past weekend.  In the finals, the sophomore from Medford, MN, earned a major decision win over #4 ranked Kael Bunce. 

Rochester Community and Technical College returns to the mat on Wednesday when they compete at the MCAC Duals in Grand Rapids, MN.
