The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its athlete-of-the-week awards for the week of January 31 - February 6. The weekly athlete-of-the-week awards are sponsored by the U.S. Marines.
Quamar Gresham, a freshman guard for Central Lakes College, scored 46 points in his team's two wins last week, shooting 65% from the field while also pulling down 17 rebounds. His effort earns him the MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor.
Athena Dunham, sophomore strong forward for Hibbing Community College, earns the week's MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award. Dunham scored 24 points and rebounded 29 balls in two games, and put together a double-double against Mesabi Range College to help her Cardinals to their first win of the season.
The MCAC South Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week is Cleveland Bedgood, sophomore guard for #2Riverland Community College. With 15 rebounds and 53 points on 18 for 33 shooting, Bedgood helped his Blue Devils pick up three more decisive conference wins during the week.
Lexi Hugeback, sophomore power forward for Rochester Community and Technical College, earns the MCAC South Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week honor. Hugeback scored 36 points and had 31 rebounds, averaging a double-double in each of the Yellowjackets three wins during the week. She helped her team retain the #5 ranking in this week's national poll.
Wyatt Olson, 197 lb. freshman for Itasca Community College, has been named this week's MCAC Wrestler-of-the-Week. Olson finished 3rd at the Northland Open this past weekend after pinning Mason Iverson of Northland, a wrestler who he has split matches with earlier this season. Olson also currently serves in the Army reserves and has a perfect GPA in his collegiate studies.

Central Lakes College freshman point guard, Quamar Gresham, scored 46 points on 20 for 31 shooting from the field and hitting 40% of his three-point attempts in the Raiders two wins last week. Hailing from St. Cloud, MN, Gresham also had 17 rebounds, 7 assists, and 8 steals. Gresham is this week's MCAC North Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week. The Raiders are now 12-10 on the season and 8-2 in MCAC action. They return to the court on Wednesday at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College. |

Hibbing Community College picked up their first win of the season last week behind the excellent play of Athena Dunham, this week's MCAC North Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week. The sophomore forward from Hill City, MN, scored 24 points and grabbed 29 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals in her two games last week, putting together a double-double in the Cardinals' first win. Hibbing Community College is now 1-8 on the season, 1-5 in conference play. The Cardinals return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Northland Community and Technical College.
