The Minnesota College Athletic Conference has announced its MCAC Softball Pitchers and Players-of-the-Week for the week of May 2 - 8. The MCAC Softball Athletes of the Week Award is sponsored by the U.S. Marines.
Central Lakes College pitcher, Marissa Callahan, earns the week's MCAC North Division Pitcher-of-the-Week award after striking out 25 and going 4-0 through her 28 innings of action last week. Riley Roden, Vermilion Community College center fielder is the MCAC North Division Player-of-the-Week. Roden went 12 for 22 from the plate, with four doubles, 2 home runs, and 10 RBI for the week.
Going 3-0 and giving up only three earned runs over her 18 innings of work, Lyla Galli, Anoka-Ramsey Community College pitcher, earns the MCAC South Division Pitcher-of-the-Week honor. Rainna Stangle went 17 for 26 at the plate for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, hitting 2 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, and driving in 13 runs to earn this week's MCAC South Division Player-of-the-Week award.

Marissa Callahan, freshman right-handed pitcher for Central Lakes College, went 4-0 last week, throwing 28 innings and striking out 25 batters along the way. The Browerville, MN product gave up 10 earned runs and compiled a 2.50 ERA during the week to be named the MCAC North Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week. The Raiders are 21-10 overall and 16-2 in the MCAC North, and recently claimed a share of the MCAC North championship. They are scheduled to take the field again on Wednesday at Itasca Community College in a one-game playoff to determine the host of the Region XIIIB Tournament.

Vermilion Community College center fielder from Monticello, MN, Riley Roden, earns the MCAC North Player-of-the-Week award. The freshman hit .545, going 12 for 22 from the plate, with 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 10 RBI, and 10 runs. She added three stolen bases and 3 walks, as well as 2 wins from the pitching circle during the week. The Ironwomen end the season with a 7-16 overall record and 7-13 in the MCAC North.

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College freshman from Champlin Park, MN struck out 22, giving up 11 hits and only 3 earned runs, while walking one in her 18 innings of work. In addition, she hit 4 home runs and drove in 11, and is currently 3rd in the nation in home runs with 14. The Golden Rams are 29-12 on the season and 15-3 in the MCAC South. They take the field again on Thursday at the Region XIIIA Tournament in St. Cloud, MN. |

Rainna Stangle Freshman / C - 3B Sartell, MN

Rainna Stangle, freshman catcher/3B for St. Cloud Technical and Community College, hit .656 from the plate during the week with two doubles, two triples, and 2 home runs. Stangle, from Sartell, MN, also had 13 RBI and 12 runs, while stealing a base and being walked twice. She was errorless in 3 games behind the plate and 3 games at 3rd base, racking up 21 putouts and 7 assists to earn the MCAC South Player-of-the-Week award. The Cyclones are 16-2 in the MCAC South and 35-3 on the year. They take the field again on Thursday when they host the Region XIIIA Tournament. |
