The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of September 19 - 25.
Kailey Fischer, setter for Alexandria College, earned the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week. Fischer put together an all-around strong week, hitting .300 with 26 kills, 127 assists, 17 service aces, and 48 digs to help her team win three more matches. Jenna Pelnis, Central Lakes College libero, earns the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete-of-the-Week award after digging up 61 balls in 10 sets, and tossing up 7 assists and 4 service aces to lead her team's defense to another four wins and this week's #3 national ranking.
In the South Division, Century College middle hitter, Simone Mortel, had 18 kills in 31 swings with only 2 errors to hit .516 on the week. With a 13 kill performance in a win over previous #3 Rochester Community & Technical College, Mortel earns the South Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award. Makenna Krause, Riverland Community College libero, had 79 digs in 13 sets to average 6.07 digs per set and served up 6 aces on the week to earn the South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award.
