The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly football athletes of the week awards for the week of September 26 - October 2.
Minnesota State Community & Technical College running back, Rondarius Gregory, earned an Offensive Player-of-the-Week honor for the third straight week and the fourth time this season as he rushed for 123 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown and also had 2 catches for 67 yards and a receiving touchdown. Gregory helped his team stay undefeated on the season and move to the #1 ranking in the latest NJCAA D-III Football Rankings. Graedyn Buell, quarterback for North Dakota State College of Science, earned the other Offensive Player-of-the-Week award, his second of the season, after completing 17 of his 26 passes for 292 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Wildcats win over Central Lakes College.
Chris Heidl, Minnesota State Community & Technical College linebacker, had 11 tackles with 1 of them for a loss of yardage, a forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries in his team's win to earn a Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor. North Dakota State College of Science linebacker, Manny Garcia, earned the other Defensive Player-of-the-Week award for the second straight week, with his 8 tackles, 2 of them for a loss of yardage, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery, a pass break-up, and an interception. With the win, Garcia helped his Wildcats team remain in the #3 spot in this week's NJCAA D-III Football Rankings.
Carson McKnight, kicker and punter for Minnesota State Community & Technical College, picks up the week's Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award, his second of the season. McKnight kicked 2 field goals in his 2 attempts with a long of 33 yards, was 3 for 3 on extra point attempts, and had 4 punts for 172 yards.
Each week throughout the 2022 season, two offensive, two defensive, and a special teams athlete will be named players-of-the-week, based on nominations submitted by MCAC member football programs.
