The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly soccer awards for the week of September 26 - October 2.
Rochester Community & Technical College goalkeeper, Jordan Weber, has been named the MCAC Women's Soccer Goalkeeper-of-the-Week again after holding North Iowa Area Community College to two goals on 14 shots, saving 12 in the 2-2 double-overtime tie. Rochester Community & Technical College center back, Amy Gonzalez, earned the MCAC Defensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award after scoring the game-tying goal against NIACC and anchoring a defense that only gave up two goals. Haley Doyea, Rochester Community & Technical College midfielder, picked up the week's MCAC Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week award for scoring the initial goal for the Yellowjackets in the 2-2 tie with NIACC. Doyea took 5 shots with 4 on goal.
Rhulani Mathye, goalkeeper for Riverland Community College, earns the MCAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week award after collecting his first shutout of his collegiate career. Mathye had 6 saves in his 90 minutes of work. Riverland Community College's defender, Bryan Bernardo Parraira, was named MCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Field Athlete of the Week. Parraira put together a strong defensive effort this week as he limited his opponents to only two goals in two games. Julio Hernandez, Riverland midfielder, earns the MCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Field Athlete-of-the-Week honor. Hernandez took 9 shots in two games with 5 on goal and scored on two of the shots, one in each game, to help his team pick up two more wins.
