The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly football athletes of the week awards for the week of October 17 - 23.
Central Lakes College tight end, Paul Meyer, earned an Offensive Player-of-the-Week honor with his 7 receptions for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Raiders win over Minnesota West Community & Technical College on Sunday in the MCAC/Region 13 Playoff Quarterfinals. Yaach Chuol, wide receiver for Rochester Community & Technical College, earned the other Offensive Player-of-the-Week award after catching 8 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown against Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range.
Devin Jones, Central Lakes College linebacker, had 9 tackles with 1 of them for a loss of yardage, a sack, two forced fumbles, and an interception to earn a Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor. The defensive effort helped advance the Raiders to the MCAC/Region 13 Playoff Semifinals.
Andrew Gottwalt, kicker for Central Lakes College, picks up the week's Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award. Gottwalt kicked a 34-yard field goal, was 4 for 4 on extra points, and had 9 kickoffs for 405 yards in the Raiders 49-8 win over Minnesota West.
Each week throughout the 2022 season, two offensive, two defensive, and a special teams athlete will be named players-of-the-week, based on nominations submitted by MCAC member football programs.
