The Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly volleyball awards for the week of September 11-17.
Kalli Papenfuss, outside hitter for Central Lakes College, had 50 kills and hit .263 in 18 sets last week to earn the MCAC North Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week honor. Papenfuss added 5 service aces and 65 digs at the NDSCS Tournament. Minnesota North College - Mesabi Range middle blocker, Addy Gangl, averaged 5.17 digs per set and had 6 blocks and a service ace to earn the MCAC North Division Defensive Athlete-of-the-Week. Gangl also averaged 7.17 kills per set and hit .434 in six sets.
St. Cloud Technical and Community College middle blocker, Josie Hiltner, earned the South Division Offensive Athlete-of-the-Week award with her near-perfect performance last week. In seven sets, Hiltner had 14 kills and no errors, hitting .560 and adding 4 blocks as well. Rochester Community and Technical College outside hitter, Kylie Smidt, earned the South Division Defensive Athlete of the Week award after digging 45 balls in ten sets, averaging 4.5 digs per set, and serving five aces. Behind the defensive play of Smidt, the Yellowjackets won three division matches last week.
